Strip foundations - a reliable foundation solution
Strip foundations (or strip foundations) are a traditional and proven method where the load from the building is transferred through vertical strips embedded in the ground and resting on foundation slabs. Such a construction ensures good load distribution and sustainability even for massive buildings.
When to choose strip foundations?
Tape foundations are particularly suitable for:
-
For raised house projects with a basement
-
For areas with even soil and stable rock
-
In cases where a more economical alternative to slab foundations is needed
-
In projects where durable wall structures are used
Construction types and materials
Strip foundations can be built in different ways, depending on the project and budget:
-
Brick - a traditional material, widely used
-
Monolithic concrete – created on site by pouring concrete
-
Precast blocks - a system of elements made of reinforced concrete
-
Reinforced concrete structure - a reinforcement grid is built in the trench and concrete is poured
-
Concrete, gravel and stone mixture - an economical composition with sufficient strength
Expert advice
-
The width of the strip foundation pit is recommended to be ~ 50–70 cm larger than the perimeter of the building
-
The ground foundation must be built up to a firm layer - with a layer of sand or gravel 300-600 mm
-
The concrete base must be even and level.
-
All communications (pipes, drainage) must be placed before concrete is poured.
-
Additional hydrobarrier and drainage solutions help protect against moisture
